SOSPR, Inc.
Sistema Organizado de Servicios de Puerto Rico, Inc.
AMPI has always sought to maximize the donations it receives to serve the communities. With this in mind and with funds initially sponsored by Juntos y Unidos por Puerto Rico to repair roofs affected by Hurricane Maria, AMPI decided to create its own social enterprise by creating a construction company, thus eliminating the profit of third parties.
Sistema Organizado de Servicios de Puerto Rico, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit corporation that serves as a direct collaborator of AMPI to maximize the funds obtained for the service. This corporation has been in business for over two years and, during this time, has repaired more than 150 roofs in homes devastated by Hurricane Maria.
The funds to cover salaries come from contracts between AMPI and SOSPR, Inc, where there is no profit for a third party. The cost of materials and others is, in most cases, sponsored by other proposals and for repairs related to the Hurricane, came mostly from a federal program known as VALOR. In this innovative and productive way, the funds available are multiplied to provide more roofs to the affected families.
Currently SOSPR, INC is midway its third year of community work and is now working a special program for senior citizens in collaboration with the MCS Foundation. This program will improve their quality of life and prevent injuries due to falls, to dozens of families of older adults homes in the western area of Puerto Rico. Since due to health restrictions, the employees are unable to enter some homes, while restrictions are lifted, the crew is working in finishing AMPI’s Bocha training court, a special Olympics’ sport, so that our participants can return in small groups to our facilities and begin training for their competitions.
