AMPI was founded in 1983 by parents facing limited options for their disabled children as they entered adulthood. Since then, AMPI has developed over a dozen programs to support the intellectually disabled community.
Assisted Housing Program
AMPI currently manages three assisted housing programs that provide safe, reliable, and affordable housing for qualifying members of the intellectually disabled community. These programs been sponsoderd by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through federal grants.
All residents are provided with a private room and access to shared common spaces, including kitchen, backyard, and recreational areas. Each house also provides residents with daily assistance, which support each resident’s physical, medical, psychological, educational, personal, and transportational needs.
La Casa de Junny, Inc.
LCJ, the first assisted housing home sponsored by AMPI, provides private rooming and daily assistance for up to six intellectually disabled women.

Daytime Center
Previously known as the Center for Basal Stimulation and Passive Recreation for Adults with Significant Disabilities (CEBRAIS) and the Quality of Life Improvement Center (CEMECAV), our Daytime Center is an innovative model of services for adults over 21 years old with severe intellectual impairments.
AMPI’s Daytime Center provides a space specially designed to meet the unique sensory and recreational needs of over 50 paticipants. Participating community members have access to:
Sensory therapy
Independent Living and Home Management Workshops
Daily Meal and Transportation Services
Recreational Activities and Sporting Events
Varied Social Interactions
As a part of this program, AMPI also aims to support our paticipant’s relatives, by providing them with additional schedule flexibility and leisure time, which is crucial to prevent caregiver burnout.
